I'm filling out my common app but I don't feel like the space given for activities/honors does me justice as a student. The Tulane application, for example, leaves room for a short, written explanation of each activity. I feel like this is a much better avenue to show who you are as a student, as opposed to the fill-in-the-blank, click-whatever's-most-applicable approach in the common app.

Rant aside, I want to attach a resume. I know it's probably not a good idea to include in the resume the same info that's already in the commonapp. But what about this: This semester I was basically allowed to design my own curriculum, taking two independent studies, one on Japanese Literature and one on 20th century history. This is something I'd like colleges to know about. Would that be appropriate for a resume? Aside, from that, what are some resume do's and don't's? Do you post the resume in the "additional information" section?
