Most kids at my school don’t even know what it is out of. Like I got a 30.25 cold in February, (taking it in september), and everyone was like “Dude isn’t that like perfect?” or “Dude are you going to like Harvard or something?”.

That being said, the average is probably around 22-23. a 26-27 is good. 30+ is insanely good. I say 30+ because I got the same praise as a kid who got a 35, twice.

The Avg at my school is 26+, most kids get at my school get around 28. Some students at my school get gr8 scores, well above 30. For me, I got a score at around the avg when i first took it so im fairly well.

Since I come from the average public, honestly a 25+ is great. And this year, I think that there was only 1 person who scored a 30. So yeah. It’s very easy to overachieve given the circumstances.

When I took the ACT for the first time as a soph, I got a 33. I’m now a junior, and when I took it I was coughing my lungs out and had a high fever… I managed to get a 30. I remember I was crying and whining when I got my score and my dad was upset that my score “dropped so much”… I went back to my selective enrollment school the next day, and although a handful of kids were getting 35s, a great many were also scoring 22-25. Personally, I’d say a 25+ is good.

… As for 36s, one of my best friends got a 36. I’m happy for her, she’s by far the smartest and nicest person I’ve ever met and really well-rounded. The only other person I’ve met that got a 36 is brilliant, but demonstrates no leadership, no extracurriculars, no interests… And to be blunt, I don’t think I’ve ever seen her give an act of kindness to another living thing. She’s a senior this year, and got rejected from Harvard, Yale, and MIT. [Something to keep in mind?]

People at my school think a 29 is a fantastic score, but of course these are all the students who go to in-state schools/schools where their friends are going. I’m not saying 29 is bad, people have so much more potential than that.

It depends on who you’re talking to. Among my dumb/fun friends, a 29 is considered brilliant. I told one of them that I was shooting for a 32 last weekend and he was like, “OMG UR SOOO SMARTZ”. With my smarter/boring friends, it’s 32+ or no respect. But hey, these kids think that anything below a 4.0 gpa is bad too.

I’m from a pretty large public school. Some people would consider a 30 great, but I know at least two people who got 36 perfects. In most of my classes, 32-35 is considered normal, even though our school average is ~23

I go to a large, good and public school in the Midwest. We have like 10 35’s and 2 (finger’s crossed for me) 36’s. Our average is 24.6 or something.

I go to a tiny public rural school in WI (about 550). Our average is about a 23.8 & the top 20-25 students in grade average about a 29-31. The highest ever was 35 (she got into MIT so we’re doing something right) two years ago. I’m satisfied because for such a small school, we do have great teachers if you take AP classes.

Tigerb, only 1 or 2 kids breaks 30 in your school?! That’s really bad… What’s your school like? My grade has about 150 kids in it and I bet at least 10 kids get over 30, it would be more but more people take the SAT than the ACT.

The expectations in my school are low–because the students perform low. Teachers and administrators aim for a 19, as that is the cut off for instate tuition. There is no more of a reason for students to score above this, as the majority either go onto a community college or to no college at all. My class has about 240 students.
