Trust me, I'm also shooting for the 1600 (now 2400), but I was curious as to what is considered decent. Not spectacular, but decent. Is it 1200+? Or more 1300+.

Remember, not what we'd all like to get, but what in actuality is okay. Thank you in advance to those of you who respond.

And if this is placed in the wrong forum or there is already a thread for this question, please feel free to let me know.

Any score that is 1300+ is commanded a good deal of respect amongst the general public, although it is pretty weak compared to the typical high-flying students who post on CC. (check out the "average sat score on cc thread) I'd say that a score in the 1200s is decent and solid, but nothing to get giddy about.

i suggest that you go to the college board webpage and look at the percentiles for different scores. set your goal score in the percentile that fits you best. if you are in the top 10% of your class, aim for a score in the 90th percentile (1310 or above). also, look at the average scores of the schools to which you are applying. i would say that anything about a 1300 is VERY respectable.

Reasonable SAT scores depends on your standard and the schools you're applying to; to some, a 1000 is good enough, to others a 1600 is reasonably good (we're talking old SAT; convert as you please). Nonetheless, taking the median of the two, a 1300 is respectable; it's certainly not bad.
