What is EA and ED???

I came across these two terms, "Early Action" and "Early Decision". What are they actually? Are they applicable for internationals looking for financial aid?

Please help me.

In both Early Action and Early Decision you apply to the university early and get the decision quickly.(Just check the EA and ED deadlines and notifications)
However, the difference is that EA is not binding whereas ED is, which means that if you get into a university in ED with sufficient aid then you’ll have to withdraw your application from everywhere else and HAVE to attend the university. However, in EA that’s not the case.
Also, keep in mind that not all universities allow internationals seeking for aid to apply ED. So, you should check that up with university.
If you apply ED at one place then you can’t ED anywhere else but in normal EA you can.
Note that there is Single Choice Early Action(SCEA) in universities like Yale and under this criteria if you apply SCEA anywhere you can’t ED or EA anywhere else.

Can you tell about some good universities which don’t allow ED???

Does MIT allows Early Decision and Early action for international students…

^ No

Basically,

 1. ED is binding, i.e. if you are accepted, you are obliged to attend the school. EA is not.
 2. With the exception of SCEA (Yale, Stanford), you can apply to many schools for EA. But you can only apply to one school for ED.

@ omega007, Harvard doesn’t allow ED. Since everyone who gets accepted there enrolls.

^ haha not really XD but it’s true that HYPMS don’t practise ED

frens, in ED how many colleges can we apply for??

ED is binding and you can apply to one college as ED.
