Hello
I wanna know what's the difference between applying early decision or Early action !
And is it possible to send and Early decision application to more than 2 universities
Thanks :)

Early Action means that you apply earlier than the regular action applicants, and get to know your results quicker.

Early Decision is basically the same thing except if you get accepted you HAVE to go to that school (unless you have financial issues, etc).

I think you can only apply one ED. You can apply to more than one EA schools unless they say you can only apply to their school EA (ex. Stanford).

If you get in ED, it is considered binding as in they admit you and you have to go there and withdraw all your other applications. The only out you normally have is if you determine they are not meeting your financial need and plead financial hardship.

EA is two kinds - single choice and open. Single choice requires you to apply only to one school as early and not apply to any other school. They do provide you normally with exceptions for your in state schools where the application process can start quite early and have rolling admissions.

There are schools like Chicago and MIT who are open EA which means they dont care who else you to as EA.

EA also normally allows you to not have to decide until May 1st whether want to go to that school.

^ One minor point: You don’t have to “plead” financial hardship; you just TELL them, saying thanks but no thanks, and apply RD elsewhere.
