I would like to take it at UPenn so I want to know if it fits me.

I dont really understand what your asking, are you asking about workload and difficulty or the material itself?

Not really, just what will I be learning. I will not be able to take a physics or AP calc class, just regular calc in 12th grade. I don’t really know anything about econ but it sounds interesting if I apply for CAS.

I dont really understand what not being able to take physics or AP calc class has to do with your question other than they are completely irrelevant to your success in a communications major. As for the exact material you will be learning, that’s far too broad of a question, you will learn the basics obviously but outside of that, different schools teach/focus on different parts of economics and finance as well as letting you take different types. Seeing as I never attended Penn, I cant speak from experience the exact one’s they offer.

I know that Penn is like #9 for Econ so I am kind of interested, what kind of jobs do you get? And do I have to go to graduate school after undergrad?

If you are talking about going for a MBA, the top schools generally want candidates who have some significant full time work experience. You’d have to plan on getting a job after your undergraduate degree for at least a couple of years before you consider applying to MBA programs.

I really don’t know yet.

In Finance you’ll learn the debt/equity conundrum, how to figure the value of a firm… basically how to use different investment modes to keep a company operating efficiently.

Going into IB, you’d leverage that knowledge to educatedly bet on companies and markets.

Working at a company, you would help to either gather and present info to make financial decisions, or one day make those decisions.

In Econ, you’re considering Sociology and History a bit – how do people make financial decisions, how did they in the past? How do demographics play a role? What are the main cash flows among the main economic centers? How does trade work? What should a nation trade to maximize the benefits of its advantages? Guns and butter…

Seems like I’d love Econ a lot then. I love history.
