What is everybody's opinion of the new president?

Is he considered somebody who brings great prospects to the school? Is he considered an improvement from the last president? Does it not matter who is the president? What is your overall view of him and the direction you believe he’ll take UF?

He comes to us from Cornell University, where he served as Provost and, before that, as Dean of the Cornell University College of Engineering. He holds a B.S. in Engineering from Duke University and a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois. Given that UF is a top research university, it looks to be a very good hire. Perhaps, whoever hired him should be put in charge of hiring our football coaches.

My heart had a sudden jump for joy at the thought of a new president, until I saw that it was a post about university. Darn…

It’s way to early to tell. We’ll have to see how he does building the university (and how he handles his first crisis). He’s main goal is enhancing UF’s prominence: can he improve UF’s rankings, can he continue to recruit stellar facility, can he increase UF"s funding (through state appropriations, fund raising and research), and most importantly, can he get our football team to win!!

He’s goal is to build the Gator Nation. You’ll have to give him a few years, before we can fairly grade his performance.
