What is Foundational Engineering?

I applied to Texas Tech as Petroleum engineering first choice, and second was Foundational Engineering. I just sort of chose it randomly because I thought for sure I was going to get accepted for PetE according to their GPA requirement.

So now on application status, I'm admitted as Foundational Engineering. I tried to google it and even look on Texas Tech website and I can't find anything on it.

Or is it just another term for pre-enigineering classes? I emailed admission about 5 days ago, still not heard back; thought I might get an answer here.

Thanks

That doesn’t actually help.

Edit: Or rather, it helps when you realize that “Foundational Engineering” isn’t some obscure type of engineering. It’s just the basic curriculum.

You take foundational engineering courses (including English composition, calculus, science courses, introductory engineering courses) as a freshman, then apply to your desired major(s). Your TTU GPA determines admission to the major.
