I was just wondering because somebody told me that it's a "joke" to get into Early Decision

30% for ED Cornell, 40% for Duke, 42% for JHU 2007 data off the top of my head.

My roommate at JHU said it was easier to get into JHU early than RD. His GPA during highschool isn’t that great but he did 3 years of research during undergrad and did college classes during highschool senior yr.

While it is true that the percentage of ED applicants offered admission is much higher than RD admissions, it is by no means a joke. The applicant pool for ED is very strong–and the statistics for those admitted ED and RD are comparable. The difference is that those admitted ED have proven that JHU is their first choice–and increasing the number of students who have JHU as their first choice is likely to result in a happier student body.
