I sit courtside at Sixers games all the time, so that doesn’t particularly impress me.

Living near Philadelphia is awesome. Everything you can pretty much think of doing is only a few hours away. If you want to go skiing, blue mountain and other places aren’t that far away. The beach, maryland and new jersey beaches really close by. Hunting is near by, fishing, farms, and of course the city.

unfortunately Sixers games have terrible attendance right now. I’m at Flyers and Phillies games all the time. I usually make one Eagles game too. It’s really easy to get Sixers tickets and I go sometimes. Sadly I won’t be able to do that stuff this fall as I’m going to college in New York. I do plan to see a Flyers game a the Garden though (I’m a risk taker), also this spring see the Phils at Citi.

You asked me if i have ever been to a Lakers game. I clearly explained the exciting evening. You seem to not only fully read my posts, you forget what what you asked for! ;)

Sounds really exciting! Sixers were fun, spunky team to watch when they could run’n’gun again. Hope the Elton Brand investment works out, otherwise you guys have a horrible fit for your team. Sixers need to nab some sound outiside shooting. Don’t you think so? I bet they wish they retained Korver, who at least had some range off the bench. Sixers just now have gotten good, hopefully they can take the next stride into being a serious contender.

@AllPhillyFan: Wow, that sounds reeeeeally cool! Maybe check out the Sixers at the Garden? I used to love hockey, bet you enjoyed those games! Have a great year in NYC :)

I might see the Sixers at the garden, Flyers are above them in priority though. I’m not the biggest basketball fan.

Where’d you go to HS?

So what’s up with Staten Island? It seems worth a look to me. Close to good employment opportunities (NYC and all), seemingly affordable, and the people there actually seem to all know how to speak English. It sounds too good to be true (especially coming from California), so there must be a catch.

Quick, someone tell me all the bad things about Staten Island. Besides technically being in New York City.

Staten is one of the trashiest places in the world.

“The other day, I was walking near Columbus and 60th and three people were crossing the street just as the light turned green and the cars were like “Dude, lights green, we’re hitting you.” and seriously started driving while these people ran out of the street.”"

the same thing happened to me…=( it happened a block or so from Wall Street

The most common criticism about Staten Island involves its irrelevance. I’ve never actually stopped in it, though, so I wouldn’t really know. The city overall isn’t as good a place to live as before.

I hate where I live in the northeast. It sucks. It’s hours away from any place of value.

People in Staten Island are VERY isolated from Manhattan and the other boroughs. Some people never even leave the island. Another thing about people from Staten Island is that they have HEAVY accents—heavier than the average NYers accent. It’s really quite bad.

I sit in the middle of the court at Nets games. On a leather massage chair. The Nets rewrote their playbook to avoid crossing the center of the court.

“^Well, I support no smoking in bars, but we must to agree to disagree I guess. I mean it is very counter-intuitive to believe that the state famous for tabacco would ban smoking in bars, but it does make the air cleaner, cuts down on second-hand smoke, and may (long shot, but people have hope) cut down cigarette consumption/purchases.”

I certainly support it as well. Maryland made the move a few years ago. Certainly the right move and restaurants are so much nicer now.

“So basically you just reiterated that you’re a bandwagon fan. Kobe went to my HS and lived a few houses away from me, but I still hate the Lakers.”

Yep, there is no logical explanation for being a Yankee, Colts, and Lakers fan. He’s using typical bandwagon explanations as well. LOL we see right through that.

"i never really understood the whole “new jersey smells” idea, idk i live in north jersey, about 30 minutes from NYC, and compared to the city it’s clean as hell.

and the whole gas thing, i’m actually pretty happy about not having to pump my own gas. is there a “pleasure” one gets from pumping your own gas? idk, maybe there is, I’m supposedly getting my license in about a month, maybe I’ll drive up to the city and see what’s so awesome about it.

“extremely wealthy neighborhoods can be found minutes from ghettos” obvioulsly, nj is the most densely populated state in the us.

As for being “materialistic” and “insufferable”, umm hi have you ever seen any California based reality shows?

And I’m actually applying to about two or three colleges instate, thanks."

Ok the first thing is I was just pulling your chain. We all love to pick on New Jersey but for the most part its just joking.

The smell - Partly true. Some parts of New Jersey do smell like a giant trashcan. You probably don’t live in an area that smells but some of the state does stink.

Pumping your own gas - Doing it yourself is clearly better. You can top it off. Work quickly if need be. And you don’t have to worry about tipping.

True states like New Jersey, Connecticut, and Maryland will have densely populated areas. That said I always find it hilarious that extremely wealthy people living in Jersey City have to avoid walking three blocks inland.

Actually no I don’t watch California based reality shows. However, I can assume the ****** quota is high. That doesn’t mean its acceptable behavior. The guido/guidette lifestyle is embarrassing. I’m of Italian descent as well but its a joke. Fact - Most Italian-Americans despise guidos.

You might be applying to those schools but LOL @ you if you are dumb enough to go to them. How can a rich state like New Jersey literally have zero good colleges?

“yea i think it creates more jobs or something, lol. i dont think i’ll ever learn to pump my own gas though!”

What will you do when you go on vacation? How embarrassing would it be for an adult to have to ask someone else how to pump gas? It’s not hard. Just google it and read up on it for 3 minutes so you never have to ask that question.

Congratualtions for looking tough on the internet. I explained that while I was a bandwagon fan when I was 5 (I explained this TWICE, thanks for paying attention), I have grown to completely love these teams. I stood by the Lakers during the Kobe-Shaq fallout, wouldn’t I have switched to a Spurs or Pistons fan since I’m allegedly still a bandwagoner?

Wouldn’t I have lost my allegiance to the Yanks for not winning a WS in several years (to Yanks standards anyway). The Colts don’t have great playoff success, even though they have a legend a QB. Wouldn’t I switch to being a Pats or Steelers fan?

Guess what, I haven’t hated on these teams. Why can’t be considered a Boston hater, which I already suggested. Thank you for acting tough. With all of your hating, I should be listening to “Haterz everywhere we go” by B.O.B. Wait, is that too maninstream of a song? Maybe I should like Weezy & Soulja Boy, they’re much more famous.

i know that. its pretty lame how it’s practically the most hatest state in the US, or moreso the easiest to make fun of. but i love it here, not gonna lie though if i wasnt born and raised here i’d probably be picking at it, too.

ill pay a mexican five bucks

Other states don’t even have the option. I personally had never even seen a gas pumper guy until driving through New Jersey.

Also, I’m pretty sure the Mexican would shoot you if you did that. That’s basically like walking up to him saying, “hey you useless illegal come make yourself useful and pump my gas for me.”
