What is it with College of the Holy Cross?

Has anyone checked out their reviews and perceptual rankings on **************.com? Are they really insecure about their rankings that they have people standing by to make sure they stay at #1 in all areas? It's really quite pathetic.

I’m guessing you were talking about College Prowller (the URL was censored, and yes the extra L is on purpose)? It’s a very good school, they hardly need anyone standing by to “make sure they stay at #1”.

Maybe the school’s strong athletic culture, along with its Catholicism, brings out a certain evangelical zeal in its alumni.

It’s not the website that Jason cites, but yes, on another notorious website that exercises no control over voting legitimacy, HC is #1 in about a dozen categories. I suspect that some HC student created a computer program to go on that site and vote the school #1 in every category over and over again, 24 hours a day.

I don’t put much stock in any of those sites, especially the one mentioned (student review) It seems like more complaints, and a lot of non-review spam and comments. Some things are very distasteful and I think it should be shut down.

College P. I think is better and some others, (Un-i-go). I don’t know if HC really does that, but the reviews I read (through the spam) seemed balanced, some good, some bad, but again, you don’t take a site like that too seriously.

I’m not saying most students at HC are happy all the time, but it does seem like a happy school, many student tour guides and ones we just spoke to in route or in cafeteria, when looking for schools, were happy. They had complaints about food sometimes, better town, but all and all, seemed content. My daughter noticed that aspect when looking at colleges and now attending there, said she doesn’t see too many students that complain now except about all the work…she doesn’t think they let the prospects know how rigourous it is sometimes, many great students had the wind out of their sails for the first semester. : )
I don’t know what it is, but many alumni are very passionate about that school, volunteer, call people, give money. I have met quite a few dentists and doctors that graduated from there and went to very respectable grad schools, but talk more about their time there then after. I don’t know if my daughter will “bleed purple” or not in 3 years, I just hope she has more fond memories than not. : )

(students review dot com) is the site I’m talking about. I pity anyone who takes that website seriously when considering a potential university. It’s the wild wild west on that website. Heck, even wikipedia is stringently moderated 24/7 and look at its reputation.

Whoever created students review dot com is doing a horrible job of moderating the website. Really they should just shut it down and start all over.
