what is Lit1005?

I duel enrolled enc1101 and i tried to challenge myself by taking a.p. lit to hopefully get ut of enc1102. But, i only got a 3 on a.p. Lit and not a 4 so i only got credit for lit1005. Is lit1005 a gordon rule? Or a humanities/finearts? Because if not then its just going to be 3 credit hours of basically nothing lol.

I believe you will get credit for both a W class and a * class. W is for a gordon rule writing, for which you need TWO in addition to ENC 1101 and ENC 1102. * is a LIT class for which you need one.

You ended up with a useful credit, actually. You can get BOTH a W and a * credit on the same class. On secure apps, click on graduation requirements. It should list lit 1005 credit and it will show if you got both a W and a lit credit for it. If it does not yet show, it will before fall term starts. Just keep checking.

See: [FSU General Bulletin](<a href=“FSU Registrar | Error 404 page not found”>Page Moved)

Time to become familiar with the FSU General Bulletin. :)

I confused regarding the number of w classes. Is it ENC 1101 and 1102 plus 2 w classes or plus 4 w classes. The bulletin reads: “3.To satisfy the requirements of Florida State University for Section 1007.25, Florida Statutes (Gordon Rule), students must also earn a grade of “C–” or better in each of the courses used to fulfill the liberal studies requirements in Area I (mathematics), Area II (English composition), and four more liberal studies courses designated by the Undergraduate Policy Committee as requiring 3,000 words of writing (courses indicated with a “W”).” I interpret the “and four more” to mean four more w classes in addition to ENC 1101 and 1102. Any experienced parents or students know for the answer?

Correct. You will need 2 math classes, the 2 english comp classes, and 4 additional gordon rule classes.

I’ve never heard of LIT1005. If the AP credit is already showing on your transcript, go to Secure Apps –> My Undergraduate Graduation Check.

Check for: “LIBERAL STUDIES LITERATURE REQUIREMENT”, and see if the requirement is satisfied by the class.

Then check for: “GORDON RULE REQUIREMENT - GRADES OF C- OR HIGHER REQUIRED”

See if the class satisfies one of the area 3 requirements.

You need 6 gordon rule W classes, 2 ENC and 4 others. One of them needs to also be a LIT (*) class.

LIT1005 is what FSU gives you for a 3 on AP Lit if you already have credit for ENC1101. It will satisfy one of your four additional Gordon Rule (W) classes, as well as the Literature credit. Credit for AP World History and AP US History will also count as W classes!

If it’s from AP credit, that could explain a lot. Not all classes that you get AP credit for “exist” as in you can find them in course lookup.
For example, I believe that MAC1147 is the combo course that you have listed on your transcript when you receive test credit for both MAC1114 and MAC1140.

hmm ok, ill check when blackboard stops glitching =p, thanks for the responses guys.

i checked and it said that i got a gordon rule and the lit requirement done. yayyyyyyyy =)

Haha you ended up with a good deal!!

Yeah, my son got that credit from AP, too. And if I’m reading the Undergraduate Graduation Check correctly he appears to have satisfied all of the Gordon Rule requirements through AP credits.

That is a very valuable credit. Congratulations!
