<p>For most majors, ranking doesn’t matter at all. For some, it matters terribly. You need to find out if employers in your field care about ranking, and if they do, whether a series of good internships will make up for the difference. In most cases, work experience is more important.</p>
<p>I would agree. And going to UIUC and not getting an internship/experience in your field would be a big mistake.</p>
<p>Lots of graduates from high ranked schools are unemployed when they graduate, a contributing factor is likely a lack of meaningful experience.</p>

<p>Thanks for the reassurance. I may have forgot to mention that this is for mechanical engineering. I kn ow UIC is not the top 10 schools but its still top 100.</p>
