Applying EA
From talking to admission counselors I have seen a strong emphasis on community involvement (service hours) and overall enthusiasm for the school. While you don’t have tons of AP classes, it seems you did very well on those tests you did take. Applying EA was also one of the biggest boosts the staff told me could really help you get in over a RD student. Another area I would recommend spending a lot of time is the Villanova essay on CommonApp. Students hinted to me that they really do read them and are looking for individuality and a strong voice, almost using it in place of an interview portion. From your 4 in AP Lang you clearly know how to write, so let that show. All total you seem to be a very qualified candidate, especially since you plan to apply EA.
Best of luck with your applications!
@Jobrien718 new this upcoming admissions cycle is the ED option. However, keep in mind, it is binding. If you get accepted you will have to attend unless the financial potion does not meet your needs. Run the net price calculator before applying to make sure Villanova could be a viable option for you and your family. Good luck!
I just got my subject test back. I got a 710 on US History. Will that increase my chances if I apply for history?
@Jobrien718 That is a very good score. Check out the common data set for Villanova. I think the median (50%) score range was 1340-1480??? You always want your score to be in the 75% range in order to have a really solid chance. Being in the 50% puts your application in the majority accepted range. Of course, the 25% range is a bit tougher to gain admission. The AO’s will look at your entire application for admission so there is always a possibility. I think submitting your app to CLAS will give you the best chance of admission. The other schools at Villanova are much smaller and competitive. CLAS is the largest school and has more seat available.
