I am Indian as well...i need all the feedback i can get and if there is any other schools anyone thinks i should consider! Thanks a lot!

yo, ur grades are remarkably similar to mine... check out my post... i hope u'd have a good chance, because then i would too haha, i think we're ok though

Good rank, really weak SAT2 scores if you applying to CAS with a 610 on writing unless you are a URM yer going to get smacked around by them

Could people explain the meaning of URM and first gen? My parents weren't born here but they moved and recently became citizens. Am I first gen? And shoo_shakin, I am Indian too. I have a feeling we don't get any help.

yeah...you're first generation infinity...but i also believe we don't get looked at differently because we're indian; it probably has no effect on our admissions

anyone have any other input?

wow...i just got my sat scores today...i got a 800 Math and a...500 verbal, so basically went down in verbal...will that diminish my chances for getting into cornell?

......anyone?

no, but you might want to consider taking the TOEFL with that low verbal, or you should do better on your SAT II writing

well i can't really take the toefl considering english is NOT a second language....but its not like i completely suck at english, cuz i am in ap english, so i don't know

SHOO SHAKIN !!! OMG !! I GOT A 800 MATH AND 500 vERBAL AS WELL !!...like i suck at english , and its not my second language .....and im applying to cornell....my SAT 2 is math2c 790 physics 710...and writing is 500 but im retaking it and hoping for 600+...ugh, im scared !

don't worry, SAT II writing should be easy to raise. The first time I took it, I got a 540, then I studied the writing section, and although I went down in multiple choice, I got a perfect score for my essay portion, and ended up going up 150 points (so writing is important!). my friend has a similar story, and both of us are attending cornell. sorry, i didn't know english wasn't your second language (it's technically not mine either, but my guidance counselor advised me to take it--I didn't)

thanks guys...i actually mailed in my ED application today!

this is going to be a long month and a half

if u dont get in ED take the sats agian and get ur verbal score up. dont memorize vocab. study roots and prefixes. Also biochem is a hard major. if ur going premed id suggest human biology health and society

well its not like i'm terrible at chemistry or something, i actually do very well in that subject; so i think i'm fully capable of pursuing that major. however, i doubt that my choice in major will affect how the admissions will view my verbal score, because it is low nonetheless.

i'm indian too.. first gen also. i think writing is the easiest SAT II you can study for. just pick up a princeton review book and learn the rules. (some of it also comes with time). first time i took it i got 720 writing, with little/no studying. i retook it 3 months later and got a 770. not a huuge improvement, but score still improved nonetheless. good luck!

wow chem i got owned. i absolutely hate chem haha. i'm applying columbia engineering ED btw... cornell and duke are my seconds choices.

when i sign in on my account on cornell's website, it still hasn't showed that they received my application when i sent it on October 27th, so now its been like almost 2 weeks, should i call or wait?

oh ok...i checked today and they received all my materials!
