I only managed to check my score this morning before I left for school (1480, 730 E 750 M), but I did not see the other part, the Selection Index that people are talking about, and now the site is overflowing. I have seen a 1480 be anywhere from an SI of 220 to 222. Does anyone know what my SI would be predicted to be? And also, does it make more of a difference than the actual score. One last thing, if one makes the cutoff, does another person with a higher score have more chance to get NMSF (one person at my school got a score higher than mine)? Thanks to whoever answers this! I seem to be so uninformed about this topic.
There’s a tab for it on the college board page with your scores.
Your selection index is found by doubling your verbal score and then adding that to your math score and then dividing the total by 10. So your selection index is 221, which should be enough for the cut off in most states! Congrats!
Once you make semifinalist, making finalist depends on a few criteria, none of which include how much above the cutoff you are. It depends on having good grades, a “supporting SAT” score that shows your PSAT wasn’t a fluke, a rec from your principal and maybe some kind of extracurricular (I think i read that). Of the 16000 semifinalists, 15000 become finalists so most of them.
