This school has only recently come onto my sons radar. He visited it about a month ago and really liked it. What are the students like? Is there an active off campus student life or is everything centered pretty much on campus? Its a small school..does it ever feel "too small"?

Most student’s live on campus all four years (something like 94%) so almost everything happens on campus. The student are hard working, smart and talented but a lot do tend to follow the “work hard, party hard” motto. Generally, the student body tends to be pretty preppy and well off, but there are many exceptions to this stereotype.

I am applying to Richmond this year, and I had the chance to talk to someone who is transferring from Richmond after two years to Colorado College. He transferred from Richmond because of problems with his athletic team, not because of any problems with the academics or other students. I didn’t ask him the specific thing that made him leave as it could have been a personal question.

He said he loved it in pretty much every aspect. He was going into business (me too) and said it was a great program and he has friends making $120k right out of college in Washington DC. he said the school isn’t hardcore frat/preppy, and that the fraternity he was in was just a small group of really close friends.

When I visited Richmond the question came up if Richmond felt like a small small school, the students answered that Richmond is in a slight bubble, and most things do happen on campus. I can attest that Richmond is kind of sheltered, as the surrounding community is just a really nice country club and some mini-mansions.
