What do outsiders think of Syracuse? Will having a degree from this school be beneficial in competing for jobs in the future??
I can’t say how others view SU. However, I have a daughter there now. She has gotten great internships after each term beginning after freshman year. For this summer, she had 6 offers. I have to think that is partly due to the strong reputation and networking offered by the university.
I feel like most people think of sports when they hear Syracuse University. It is a very good university academically, though. I am from NY and it has a great reputation here as well as neighboring states. My assumption is that when people think of colleges in New York who are not from the state, SU is one that comes to mind immediately. I was accepted but I did not attend - wayyyy too much money
Large alumni presence in the US and internationally- Alumni Clubs from Korea to Oregon to New York to Paris - is a BIG factor in terms of reputation. Famous alumni, especially in the media, all over the country. Top ranked schools - Newhouse and Maxwell - of journalism and public administration, respectively. Solid sports reputation. You can’t go wrong with a degree from SU.
In connecticut Sryacuse ranks just like Fordham, Purdue, Umich but less than harvard and yale…
Boston University without Boston.
