What is the accelerated Math course sequence in your high school?

Here how it goes:

Algebra 1
Geometry
Algebra 2
Precalculus w/ Trig [and AP Stat if you wish]
AP Calculus BC [and AP Stat if you wish]
Multivariable Calculus/Linear Algebra [and AP Stat if you wish]

If you go any higher, then you have to take a bus to a different school and sacrifice two class blocks [one for transportation and other for the actual class].

9 Alg 2/ Math analysis
10 trig/ calc A
11 ap Calc bc
12 ap stats

Assuming they’ve done geometry already

Well, it really depends on what you do in 7/8th grade, but here it is. The Slash represents the other path

Algebra 1
Geometry/Advanced Geometry (For the Smart 8th graders who did well in Algebra 1)
Algebra 2/ Adv. Algebra/Trig (Same path for ADV Students or for Students who did well in geometry in 8th grade)
PreCalc/Adv Precalc (Again for the Smart People)
Calc AB
Calc BC (Note: You can Skip to BC from Adv. Algebra/Trig or do ADV PreCalc first)
Then Off to college to do Multivariable Calc.

The optional route would be to do AP Stats after Algebra 2 or even do basic Trig. The Top students, or the people who got ahead in math usually do ADV.Algebra 2 Trig-----> ADV PreCalc-----> Calc BC------> College for Multivariable/ Ap Stats. Usually it is like 3-6 people who usually do this route now compared to roughly 5~6 years ago with about 16 or 20 students. So essentially ther are like 3~6 Juniors in BC with about 20 in AB and the rest of the people in PreCalc, yeah, I feel sad T.T

Note again: If you are in the left side of the path you can skip over into the right side, if your teacher believe you are good enough. E.G Algebra 2 into ADV Precalc.

9th - honors algebra II
10th - honors geometry
11th - honors trig and honors analysis (both half year courses to accommodate APs and block scheduling)
12th - AP Calc AB or AP Calc BC or AP stat or honors calc

6th-pre-algebra
7th-algebra 1
8th-algebra 2
9th-Geometry Hnrs
9th summer-Pre-Calc
10th-AP Calc BC
11th-AP Stats
12th- Linear Algebra Hnrs and Calc III Hnrs

My school is extremely small (like 90 kids per class), so the normal accelerated track is…

7th - Pre-Algebra
8th - Algebra
9th - Accelerated Geometry
10th - Honors Algebra II
11th - Precalculus
12th - AP Calculus AB

I got sick of the slow curriculum though, taught myself pre-calc and calc during 10th grade year, took the AB exam and got a 5… off to calc II and III at the local university for junior year

7th: Algebra 1

8th: Geometry (Semester 1) / Algebra 2 (Semester 2)

9th: Pre-Calculus

10th: AP Calculus AB (Semester 1) / AP Calculus BC (Semester 2)

11th: Multivariable Calculus

12th: AP Statistics

^^ you cram Geometry and Algebra 2 in one year? Now that’s pretty harsh lol

Reminds me of my schedule I took
Algebra in 6
Geometry in 7
Algebra 2 in 8
And so on…

The Highest (>1/10 people take this sequence) CAPS are the courses I’m taking
7th: Algebra I Hon.
8th: Geometry Hon.
9th: Algebra II Hon.
10th: PRE-CALCULUS HON./ AP Statistics
11th: Calculus Hon./ AP CALCULUS AB/ AP Stats
12th: AP Calculus AB/ AP Calculus BC/ AP STATS

The other option is to start Algebra I Hon. in 8th Grade and go by the same sequence (1/3-1/2 of the people do this)
If your one of the people who HAVE to take Multi-variable Calculus in high school, then you can dual-enroll at community college after taking BC in Junior Year, though only a very select few actually do it.

9th grade: Algebra I
10th grade: Geometry/Algebra II
11th grade: PreCalculus
12th grade: AP Calculus

9th Algebra 2
10th Trig/Pre Calc/Analytical Geo
11th AP Calc BC
12th Multivariable Calculus/Linear Algebra and or AP Stats

11

My school is just kinda slow…

8th grade - Algebra I
9th grade - Honors/level 5 Geometry
10th grade - Honors Algebra II
11th grade - Honors/level 5 Pre-Calc
12th grade - Honors Trig-Stats/Honors Calc (AB exam if you want)/AP Calc (BC exam)

There was a 10th grade girl in my pre-calc class last year and a couple other younger kids spread across the classes, but they all came from different districts. Huge morale crusher to be a senior in a class with sophomores.

7th grade: Algebra 1
8th grade: Geometry
9th grade: Algebra 2
10th grade: Pre-Calc
11th grade: AP Calc
12th grade: Multivariable Calc

I took both Algebra 2 and Pre-Calc freshman year, AP Calc sophomore year, and decided to easy on myself junior year (AP Stats). Some of my classmates chose to go ahead an dual-enroll with the U of Minn and do PSEO. One of my friends finished Multivariable Calc before sophomore year!

7th grade: Algebra I
8th grade: Geometry
9th grade: Algebra II
10th grade: Trigonometry
11th grade: AP Calculus AB
12th grade: AP Statistics

The class of 2013 did not have the option of advanced math in middle school, so the highest available to them was AP Calculus senior year. The class of 2014 (mine) did not have Algebra I available in 7th grade, but we were allowed Geometry in 8th. So about 12 students including me never took Algebra I. Bad decision on my part…

7th: Algebra 1 w/ Stats
8th: Geometry w/ Trig
9th: Algebra 2 w/ Trig OR IB Algebra 2 w/ Trig
10th: IB Math Sl Yr. 1
11th: IB Math SL Yr. 2 OR IB Math HL Yr. 1
12th: IB Math HL Yr. 2 OR IB Math Studies OR AP Statistics (I’m not even sure if anyone actually takes Stats because of IB) :P

7th: Algebra 1
8th: Algebra 2
9th: Geo Acc.
10th: Pre-Calc Acc.
11th: AP Calc BC
12th: Multi/Lin Alg or AP Stat

Although there was a freshman in my BC class so who knows.

Most people in the advanced math track do this:

9th: Geometry
10th: Algebra 2 & Trig
11th: Pre-calc
12th: AP Calc BC (perhaps concurrently with AP Stat)

Accelerated at my school was:

Freshman: Geometry
Sophomore: Algebra 2
Junior: Precalculus
Senior: AP Calculus AB (school doesn’t offer BC)/AP Stats

Then there were me and a couple other kids in my class that were a year ahead on each of them.

8th: Algebra 1
9th: Geometry
10th: Algebra 2
11th: Pre-Calculus
12th: AP Calculus AB
