The website for Vanderbilt University seem confusing and endless, especially since English is not my first language. Where is the specific admission criteria for academics on the Vanderbilt website? What SPECIFIC grades do I need to get in order to be eligible for applying there? What IB score do I need to get in to Psychology, for example?

I would appreciate if they had a link on the front page that listed their admission criteria for grades, so that people who don't fulfill them would not need to waste their time navigating through their maze website. The UK universities always always always are super clear about the score you need. Sorry for the comparison.

Most leading American universities take a holistic view of applicants. There are no minimum grades or test scores. They look at the whole applicant: grades, test scores, extracurricular activites, recommendations etc. There are no hard cutoffs.

throwthis–tomofboston is correct that there are no minimum test scores or grades for admissions. However, before you waste your time and money in applying to various universities in the US, it is helpful to know the range of scores (on the standard admissions tests like the SAT and ACT) for the admitted students at a particular university so you can determine if you fit within that range. I have found the website collegeboard.org to be a good source for this and other admissions information–search the particular school and look under the tab: Applying

For example, collegeboard.org says that at Vanderbilt, for Fall of 2012, 63% of the freshman applicants submitted ACT scores and of those applicants 88% had a composite score between 30 and 36. (The other students submitted SAT scores.)

Good luck with navigating through all the information and with your application process!

But do keep in mind that there is no minimum set of grades or test scores that Vanderbilt will consider. They’ll look at your entire package to determine whether you would be a good fit for the school.
