What is the atmosphere and music scene like at K College, College of Wooster & Denison University?

Hello,

I was wondering what type of students found at these colleges. I’m a curious person who loves the outdoors, music, traveling and writing. Also, I’m laid-back and quirky. I heard that Denison is more of a preppy school, and I don’t think I’d fit into that environment. Is Denison is preppy as everyone says? I visited the campus, and the people seemed friendly, and it seemed like such an amazing school, it’s just the preppy environment is what’s holding me back. I’ve heard K College and Wooster have a more quirky and unique environment of students, which is where I’d fit in. Also, is K very involved in music? I’m interested in continuing vocal lessons and playing my fiddle (and I know Denison has a great Bluegrass environment), and I want to possibly minor in composition. Wooster and Denison both seem like great schools for composition, but K, not as much (Also, it’s hard to see how good the music program is at Kalamazoo College, I think the other two are better). Also, there wasn’t much on composition at K. These 3 colleges seem so perfect in different ways, I’m just having trouble narrowing my choices down down.

Thanks for reading!

@minohi‌ Tagging my buddy minohi who literally just went through this same process between Wooster and Kalamazoo. If he doesn’t get over here to reply, you could always PM him and say Didactic sent you.

I think Denison has a mix. I will say this: If you like Bluegrass, Denison is your school. Check out the youtube vid’s of Denison bluegrass performances. They also have a very healthy budget to bring in bands periodically.

Good luck!

Thanks @TheDidactic! I’ll contact him.

I know I watched their videos and I thought it was so amazing! I’d definitely want something like that in college! @ColdinMinny
