I heard it's easy once you get in

I mean once you graduate FROM Ross, at the end of your senior year

There’s definitely grade inflation in Ross. It’s no secret that they want to graduate students with high GPA’s to land the top jobs and maintain a top reputation for the school. They are the only school that gives 4.3’s for A+'s and they wipe your GPA clean after freshman year as to not let that interfere with your GPA in the future.

Everyone is trying to get above the median.

at ross, it’s very hard to do poorly in any given class, but at the same time it’s not easy being the top of the class, since as mentioned by the poster above, everyone is trying to shoot for above the median or top quartile.

It’s much higher then LSA. Ross is famous for ridiculous grade inflation.

How times have changed. Curves used to be set at B/B- median.

200 level courses are curved to a B-
300 level courses are curved to a B+
400 level courses are curved to an A-

I don’t know if this differs based on whether the course is a core requirement or an elective. I think electives are graded easier, not sure.

The grade inflation is pretty great, but at the same time, as a few people have said, it’s very hard to score above the median because you’re competing with people who are just as intelligent as you are.

FWIW, I’ve never heard of homework group members grading you down so that they’ll benefit. In fact, I’d say most people in Ross are interested in working together and helping each other out, as most courses require group work in some form.

Also, a B+ is worth 3.4 in Ross, instead of 3.3 in LSA (not sure if a C+ is 2.4, but an A+ is a 4.4 so I’d imagine it’s the same).

Either way, most B-school kids aside from the few at the top of the curves rely on easy LSA classes to inflate their GPA.

^They just changed the core accounting courses to be listed as 300 level even though the material didn’t change, so I guess that will raise GPA’s.

Sounds like a good deal then!

I agree with thealbatross. Group project classes do have peer grades, but in my three years at Ross I’ve never heard of anyone rating their teammates lower just to get a better grade.

As for the curve, core classes are graded to a B+ curve while elective classes are graded to an A- curve. Intro to Accounting (ACC 271 / ACC 300) used to be graded on a B- curve, but will be graded on a B+ curve starting next year.

The answer is 3.6, no idea what the std. dev is but it would be interesting to know
