I'm transferring as a junior next year and have only one fear: I'm an only child and have never had to share a bathroom with anyone before... I'm really, really nervous about this. I'm also terribly embarrassed when it comes to doing my business in public bathrooms and therefore never do it... can anyone calm me down about this?! The Manzanita Hall is perfect for me but I'm really worried about this bathroom issue. I can't find ANY pictures of the bathrooms (in any hall) anywhere on the internet. What are they like? Do you have people waiting on you while you're in there (worst nightmare)? What are the showers like? Can you shave in there or will someone be rushing you to get in and out in under 5 minutes? Can someone PLEASE give me a really detailed description of the bathrooms in Manzanita or San Raphael?

Don’t worry about the bathroom situation. That was my favorite part of living in Manzanita. The way it’s laid out is really cool. I think there was 4 bathrooms on my level, It came out to 4 people per bathroom, which might sound bad but it’s not. Only once during the whole school year did I have to wait for a shower; if one shower is taken, you can just walk to the other bathroom. I always thought it was really weird how the bathroom situation wasn’t a problem, it might have to do with people starting class at different times, I dunno. But don’t worry about people waiting; if they need to use the bathroom when you’re in it they’ll just go to another one. And the cleaning crew always keeps them clean and stocked up. Right now I’m living in IV and the bathroom situation is much worse.

I’m not sure about San Raf though

Thank you so much :)

San Raf suites have 2 or 3 bedrooms (4 or 8 people) and one restroom per suite, unless you live in a the corridor sections of the clusters in which case you share a public-style restroom with 2 other doubles/singles.

Anyways, the bathroom situation wasn’t bad at all living in the San Raf suite with myself and three other guys. You get two sinks, one stall with a toilet, and a pool-style shower with a curtain. Only thing funny is that the door didn’t have a lock. Cleaning staff comes in weekly to clean it for you; be sure to clear your stuff.

Don’t worry you’ll be fine.

Must be awkward if the guy brushing his teeth and the guy on the toilet make eye contact.

I was in an 8-person suite in San Raf last year (4 doubles), and we had 2 toilets in stalls, 2 sinks, and 2 showers. The 4- and 6-person suites just have 1 toilet and 1 shower.

i love ketchup too
