What is the Best City/Town to Live In?

Which cities/towns would you all say are the best places to live for whatever reasons?

I live in a city called Eden Prairie (Even the name sounds soooooooo good!), population: around 60,000. It's probably the best town I could think of because its far enough off in the suburbs so you almost never hear of any major crime issues but its close enough to have an excellent business district and an amazing shopping center. There are communities after communities of good-looking houses. The people here are really nice as well, they're like nicer than "Minnesota-Nice (If you believe in that)." Its just an incredible city.

:)

I live in St. Louis, MO

Dont come here. It's a farm.

what do you mean

Which cities/towns would you all say are the best places to live

mine :) - beach cities, south Orange County, CA

The ideal place would be somewhere where the weather was always that comfortable-little-less-than-room-temperature weather with a light breeze and no sun. Cuz I don't like the sun. And there would have to be a lot of stores anyone with any amont of money could indulge themselves in, with clearance sales everday and beautiful scenery and yeah I'm totally dreaming :(

eat world:

st. louis sucks

there's nothing exciting
u walk out and u drive and u drive and you see a macdonalds here
and a borders there
wow, let's read books
Oh, and a movie theater.
Then there's a zoo
And a park
and drive home.

Does anyone live in Charleston WV? If so, is it a good place?

I live in DC...there are things to do, but it's hard to get around if you don't drive.

Cuz I don't like the sun

::gasp:: Don't like the sun?! Heresy!!

The San Francisco Bay Area is arguably one of the best places to live in the country. It's right by the Pacific Ocean and has Mediterranean-like weather. Also, San Francisco has been ranked the best city to visit in the past several years by many magazines. The down side to all of this is that the cost of living is very expensive.

Haha, the funny thing is I just read about that in The Inferno.

Did I say that the cost of living in MN is pretty good as well? and some of the lakes here are pretty spectacular as well. But overall, I'd have to agree with you, San Francisco is pretty darn gorgeous...

:)

I live in Montreal, Quebec. It's frickin' amazing.

Atlanta's pretty badass...or so I think. I haven't been to many other cities.

I have travelled to over 40 countries and lived in 7 couintries on 3 continents. My favourite city on earth is Paris. Nothing comes close. The history and culture of the city are unrivaled. The restaurants are sublime, the people are well balanced and the city is very cosmopolitan. The architecture is beyond compare, the art and music scene with hard to match and unlike any other city I have visited, Paris seems to inspire thinking and creativity. In short, it is perfect!

But there are many other cities that I found to be excellent places to live. Here they are:

Ann Arbor
Austin
Barcelona
Berlin
Boston
Chicago
Madison
Montreal
London
San Francisco
Vancouver

Great places to visit, but not to live:
Budapest
Charleston
Dubai
Florence
Las Vegas
Madrid
Munich
New York
Prague
Quebec City
Rome
Toronto
Venice

I'm moving to austin in June, I'm pretty anxious :)

I disagree. Compared to living in Los Angeles, DC is incredibly easy to navigate. How hard is it to hop on the Metro?

I live in a medium-small town in eastern massachusetts. We experience 4 distinct seasons, we get breathtaking foliage, and we have a long beach. Also not far from the city of Boston.

Austin, Texas is one of the greatest cities in the US. I lived there for 12 years, and would move back in a heartbeat. The weather is fabulous year-round, the cost of living is reasonable, and the people embrace the quirky side of life. There is a saying, "Keep Austin Weird". To dcfca...you lucky dog!!

I live in a suburb of Seattle. I like the mild climate and the ability to be so close to so many things at once. If you want Canada, head North, for the Pacific Ocean head west, for skiing head east, and California's to the south. It's nice living in the suburb that I do because it is fairly safe and there is a fair amount to do. Also, I am close by to most of the other suburbs of Seattle for excellent shopping. Plus, Seattle has a lot too. The best thing about Seattle though would be the Starbucks. Everywhere you go, you never have to worry about not being within 1/2 mile of a starbucks. Starbucks = Heaven
