What is the best dorm

I'm interning in DC this summer and will be living on the GW campus, but I'm not sure what the best dorms are (I'll be a senior after this year at UMich, so looking for one that's good for an upper classman).

How would you rank these: Madison, West End, Schenley, Mitchell, Crawford, or Fulbright

I don’t think it really matters that much as they are all fairly central (except for the old Mt. Vernon College campus). There is detailed information on the website. Also, don’t forget that the summer residents will be different than the people that live there during the school year (for example high school students), so check with the housing office to see who gets put where in the summer. Also ask which dorms have air conditioning.

Ivory Tower isn’t one of the choices? That’s very nice and in a great location.

You might also want to look at Sublets Near George Washington University | Uloop;

a lot of students rent houses very near campus for 12 months, and sublet for the summer. There is also a brand new high rise apt building near the hospital with a Whole foods, restaurants, etc- a lot of students have 12 month leases there and are looking to sublet.

According to a summer housing email that I received: “For the Summer 2012 season, GW will house members of the GW Community in Lafayette Hall, Ivory Tower, and Greek Housing.”

I don’t know which greek houses, but some are trash and some are beautiful. Lafayette and Ivory are pretty new and gorgeous as well. But Ivory’s still the best. It’s equipped with a kitchen, bedrooms, and living room. Ivory’s downstairs has a wide range of food options that beats the dining hall near Lafayette. If you’re trying to save some money though, Lafayette is probably the better choice.

Students from other schools have different summer housing options than GW students. For the OP, you have a choice of dorm types with different prices. If you can spend the $$$, 1959 E Street is a nice option.

I’m a freshman so I haven’t been in all of the dorms, but I can give you some information that may help!

Madison and Crawford are both freshmen dorms so they’re both still nice, but you only have a kitchen on your floor (versus in your room), but like (almost) all the dorms here the bathroom’s connected to the rooms.

Mitchell is singles, so the bathroom’s down the hall and it doesn’t have kitchens in the room either, but it may be better if you want more privacy.

I personally would choose West End, Schenley, or Fulbright because they’re all sophomore dorms so you get a kitchen in your room which is nice. It’s hard for me to pick a favorite out of those because layouts differ depending on the individual room you get. You can google gwu living and look at some sample floor plans of the different rooms if that would help! Have fun in Foggy Bottom this summer!

West End, definitely. It’s much, much better than Fulbright or Mitchell. Crawford reminds me of an insane asylum… Madison and Crawford are, as previously mentioned, freshmen dorms which means they do NOT have private kitchens.

You can always check out [url=<a href=“http://gwu.wikia.com%5DGeorge”>http://gwu.wikia.com]George Washington University Wiki/url to check out what others say.

Of those choices, West End is the best. I’m a sophomore and I have seen all of them.
