I've decided that I want to be a Pediatrician. But, what major or classes do I need? And what would be the best college!? I've always wanted to go to JMU but I need a college that meets all my needs! The rest I don't care about, like party school or that type of stuff. I just need the best Med school! It'd also be nice if they had good financial aid programs available! I really need some opinions. Thanks!

There are 3 Medical Schools in Virginia not including D.O. schools. These three schools in rank order are.

Virginia Commonwealth School of Medicine at Virginia Commonwealth University

Eastern Virginia School of Medicine in Norfolk Virginia.

In terms of getting into med school it more or less depends on your GPA and MCAT and taking the pre-requisite classes. The pre-requisite program of study for medical school is called “pre-med”. You can complete the “pre-med” curriculum at any accredited school and major in anything you want (although it is much easier to complete pre-med if you plan on doing a science major).

Bottomline, you can go to JMU for undergrad, complete your pre-med classes there and then go to a medical school (if you get in) after JMU.

Thats very helpful. Thanks!
