What is the boringest book you've ever had the "privilege" of reading?

Reading "To kill a Mocking Bird" was like constantly stabbing my brain with chopsticks. I don't care about Atticus, or w.e 70/60's name you throw at me. lol

A Picture of Dorian Gray....so....bad....

...But, nobody agrees with me...

The Scarlet Letter (So...much...symbolism)
Pride and Prejudice (fell asleep EVERY single time I tried to read it)

I adore some books mentioned here and really hate others, but

Great Expectations. I have a special sort of hatred for Dickens.

This MUST be a joke post. That book is fantastic!

Just about 99% of the books that I have read (99% of that set was also obligatory reading, in essence) were boring.

um, the most recent book I was required to read (before school ended) - Romeo and Juliet.

...My god. Mr. Shakespeare, you're a genius, we get it, but please, please, no need for Anaphoras and Epistrophes and Shakespearean Sonnet/Iambic pentameters shoved down my throats.

I got in trouble almost every day in english (if you count being yelled at trouble) for putting my head down during the boring read.

Yeah I also didn't like To Kill a Mockingbird.

Of Mice and Men was also annoying.

The Old Man and the Sea.

Torture.

WHAT?!?!?!? THAT IS THE BEST BOOK I HAVE EVER READ!!!!!!!!!1

Great Expectations, undoubtedly the worst book I've EVER read.

I liked Jane Eyre and Wuthering Heights, though...

Guns and Steel.

I liked Jane Eyre and Great Expectations.

Worst school book ever: Silas Marner...no something about a guy named Mr. Bowdoitch or something in 6th grade.

Guns, Germs, and Steel - I think that's what Hindoo means, and YES it was bad. It drew out what could have been written in a few pages across maybe 700.

I liked Wuthering Heights a LOT, the Picture of Dorian Gray was good as well, ANNNND how can you hate Catch-22?!!

I must admit I thought Crime and Punishment [Dostoevsky] was quite boring [at least the first 20 pages or so.. couldn't bring myself to keep going].

The Awakening was possibly the most boring book ever written. Also I second the person who said Huck Finn. I couldn't even get through the first few chapters cause it was so boring. I had to use sparknotes for the entire book.

Yes, I'm so senile! Thank you, inveniamviam! I couldn't get through the first half of it--maybe that's why I forgot the title!

Here's my list:

Watership Down
A Tale of Two Cities
A World Lit Only By Fire
To Kill A Mockingbird
Huck Finn
Macbeth

Wow and I thought I was the only one who hated some of these books.

Kidnapped was the worst book ever.

Death of a Salesman. Need I say more?

The Scarlet Letter, Ethan Frome, and the Awakening give it a run for its money, though.

Thank you!

The dude (John Steinbeck) opens up by describing the scenery. Yes, I understand you need to set the setting. But for pages and pages and pages?!??!! I don't think so! I don't need to know about the little bush! Or the little flowers! Or anything else about the scenery!!! Get on with the story!

PRIDE AND PREJUDICE. I've tried to finish it three time. I can proudly say I got further each time...

^ Haha that's what I was thinking when I first read it. The ending was really sad though. It almost made me cry.

Huck Finn. I hated it so much.

So, so much.

Hated it.
