I know this seems odd that I'm doing this for him. He's a bit apprehensive about going through this transfer process.A smart guy. Came to BC (Boston College) with a high hope, but don't really like it here much and decided to transfer to either NorthEastern or BU 4.21hs gpa. 1540 hs sat(think it is out of 2400, might be a bummer)

19 credits-fall- 3.25gpa

19 credits-spring-Mathematics major. He wants to transfer out of BC. I told him to wait one more year, but he doesn't wanna wait.

Anyone know BU or Northeastern's acceptance rate?

I am not sure why u mentioned it as “parody”, but this is truly for my friend. As for BU and NEU, I told him that his SAT might be a big factor and might prevent him from getting into those schools. Do you think the same?

His Sat scores are pretty bad and that 3.25 gpa won’t help. What are some ecs he’s involved in. He doesn’t necessarily have to wait another year. NE and BU offer spring admission.

I agree with you on the SAT and gpa. That’s why I told him either to wait one more year and boost his gpa up or retake the SAT (not sure if that’s going to help at all).

I also think that the subject that he is applying for is going to be competitive to get into BU (I heard the subject that an applicant choose play a big role in applicant’s acceptance possibility). He is still undecided at BC.

I don’t know what ECs he’s involved in right now. I can ask him and update it later tomorrow. What do you think in terms of the other two issue?

BC cannot have taken an applicant with a 1550/2400 SAT score, even if he had a 4.5 GPA.
Either you’re erroneous about that fact, a ■■■■■ that’s trying to be funny, or your friend just paid his way in due to a strong legacy.
Now, please either revise the post or tell us EXACTLY where he’s at.

HAHA. I couldn’t believe it when he told me that score either. I was like is that out of 1600? He said no. I was like you sure about that. He has been in the US for one and a half years. He got 650 on math and apparently BC replaced his SAT eng score with toefl in which he got 102/120. I guess that’s how he got into BC. There are couple of other ppl that I know who got into BC with 1600, 1460 and even with 1290, but they are like 2-3% of the whole class.

I had the same question. But then I talked to one of the admission officers/counselors and he said “Just because it is one of the top schools doesn’t mean that it accepts all the best students in the US. Ivy schools accept students with low SAT scores.” He also said “BC solely doesn’t rely on numbers. It looks for students who accelerated in the most difficult situations. I am think about it. There are some ppl who have the money to send their kids to private schools, tutoring for SATs, but there r also ppl who just don’t have the money. But those kids have the potential to succeed if they have the chance.”

Although that makes sense, I guess BC is also trying to make the campus a little bit more diverse and it’s cutting a bit slack to do that. The reason I say that is because most of those students with low SAT scores are oriental students.

PS.: I am not being racist or anythings. It’s just my observation around the campus.
