what ya guys think

I REALLLLLY want to transfer to Boston University. I have a 57 credits with a 3.65 GPA from a CC in NY. I will be majoring in philosophy at university.

While these stats are pretty good, my HS stats were atrocious; I went to summer school every year, graduated with a 65%, and never even took the SATs. Unfortunately, the BU transfer website claims that HS stats are considered and SAT scores are required. This really sucks for me because my poor HS performance simply reflected a bad attitude I had 5-7 years ago. Moreover, now that im 22, it seems that taking the SATs wouldnt make a whole lot of sense.

I wonder if any of these requirements are waived for individuals who have graduated 'X' amount of years prior to applying; however, I cant find anything like that on their site. It would really suck if I cant even apply to my favorite school for things that happened so long ago.

So, what would you guys suggest I do? Take the SAT's? Any point in calling and explaining my situation? I wanna go to a good school in the immediate Boston area. Should I just settle with Northeastern? I would appreciate anyyyyy information or input regarding my situation.

Thanks in advance!!

Why not just take the SAT’s? If you’ve really changed your academic attitude, then wouldn’t it be worth it to take them if it means getting into your top choice? If you study you should be fine, I’m sure.

yeah I guess when it comes down to it that really is my only option. It would just suck to spend time and money taking/studying for SATs and still not even get in–especially considering virtually no other schools require them, given my situation. But, yeah, your right-- I just gotta accept that lol.

Well the test only costs $45 and then if you were to buy a prep book, that would be like $20? I’m applying for transfer too and only recently decided to retake the SAT, so I’m kind of in the same boat as you. I really considered not doing it, but realized that the only reason was that I didn’t want to put the work in. If you really want to transfer to BU, put in as much effort as you possibly can

completely agree…did you graduate HS a long time ago also?

no, i was class of '09

yeah see taking the SAT’s makes much more sense in your case. I graduated in 06. I will probably just have to settle for northeaster. if anyone else has an opinion or advice of any kind i’d appreciate it!

i don’t think you have any choice but to take the sat’s again … but barring a bad performance, i think you’ll get in

if you guys get a chance please let me know what you think:
