Most of the colleges i'm applying to recommend SAT subject tests, but I haven't taken it yet. I am planning to take it on the January test date (jan 25), but most of the college deadlines are Jan 1-Jan 25. I e-mailed all the colleges and they said that if the subject scores reach on time, they will review it but there is a chance that it will be too late. I'm planning to take the subject test and just send the scores without reviewing them because I heard this is the fastest way, and i'm pretty confident about my scores, but I'm still really concerned. What if they don't receive it on time? Is it more common for them to review January test scores or is there a very little chance of them seeing it if I send it in right after I take the test? How common is it that January test scores arrive on time for admission consideration if i send the scores before i see them? Does anyone know this? And also, how bad is it if a college says they recommend sat subject and you don't have it?

It means you’re most likely screwed.
