What is the "Day on the Lawn" Like?

I read that UVa hosts a Day on the Lawn on a Saturday in April for accepted students.

Can someone please describe what typically happens that day?

I'm trying to decide whether to bring my son on that day, or on another day that may be less crowded.

Days on the Lawn are our admitted student days. Check out the blog posts from March and April of last year. There are sessions about each school, students get to attend classes, eat in the dining hall, take a tour of multiple residence halls (which are off limits during traditional tours for safety reasons), and regular campus tours as well.

There are multiple Days on the Lawn, by the way.

My S loved his Day on the Lawn. I believe it was on a weekday, not a Saturday. He attended classes, looked over the dorms and the dining halls, and chatted to friendly upperclasspersons who had volunteered for the day. There were also information sessions for parents, but I didn’t attend any, as I already know the University pretty well.

The crowd of happy, excited admitted students and their parents is part of the appeal, not something to avoid.
