What is the difference between a 31 and 32

It seems like every is shooting for a 32. What really sucks is I got a 31.25, just .25 a way from 32 composite. Should I retake the act given the probability that I would get a 32?

My score C: 31 M: 32 R:35 E: 30 S: 28

A 31 composite is a good score on the ACT, 98th percentile. A 32 puts you into the 99th percentile. That’s enough to make a difference at more selective schools. Looks like you’re pretty close to a 32. Getting your Science subscore up to a 30 while holding all other subscores constant should be enough to do it. There’s no magic to the Science subsection. It’s mostly just interpreting graphs. Do some intensive work on practice tests and you should be able to get there.

2040 vs 2130 equivalency on the SAT, so like 70-80 point difference. Pretty big difference.

They wouldnt convert the 31.25 into approximately 2100 or a 30.5 would be like 2010? There both 31 composite but the score is a lot different. It seems like it would make more sense to do it that way.

Well, the difference between a 31 and 32 is 1. 32-31=1

@ivers0n: Agreed. =D

31 is an odd number. 32 is an even number. Even numbers are much prettier.

for some, it is the difference between 2/3 tuition and full tuition, so like 7000 dollars

so, the difference between 31 & 32 = 7000

: D

Depends where you’re applying, but in general I’d say there’s not much difference between a 31 and a 32, if they’re 98th & 99th percentiles. The number one thing all colleges look at is your transcript, test scores are the second most important factor at BEST, and some rank them even lower. You can re-take it if you want to and if you sincerely feel you could do better. But honestly people, 1 point on the ACT and 70 - 80 points on an overall SAT score is neither going to get you admitted or rejected.

If there is a scholarship you are interested in that has an ACT score cutoff, that’s a different story.
