What is the difference between a nerd and a geek?

Just curious to see where everyone falls in, haha. ;)

Nerd = CC people

Geek = Obsessed with one thing, like a computer geek or an anime geek.

I’d say a nerd is someone who is plain smart - has slightly more social skills than a geek, who is not just smart but has an addiction.

^ a nerd will not have social skills. They’re usually defined as someone who would sit inside reading a book on a friday night. A smart person would just be called smart. Or a genius to a certain extent.

A geek I associate with someone sitting infront of a computer
o.O

A nerd is a candy that is disgusting.

I see no difference between the two if your calling a person a nerd.

Geek - n. A carnival performer whose show consists of bizarre acts, such as biting the head off a live chicken.

Yummy.

Nerd= A smart kid, usually with lower-than-average social skills. May like dragons, astronomy, calculus, and chemistry.

Geek= Low social skills, however has many other skills. Think: Napoleon Dynamite. Not necessarily smart.

Ps. I’m more of a nerd, but I definitely have my geeky moments.

A nerd is any person who takes an interest in intellectual subjects instead of partying, sports, etc.

A geek is just a person with low social skills.

Nothing wrong with nerds. Geeks are the weird people.

“A nerd is a candy that is disgusting.”

You have not yet lived life.

Nerd: n. One lacking in social skills but extremely intelligent

Geek: n. One lacking in social skills but is obsessed with something not mainstream e.g. Trekkies.

^I like this one best.

Nerds are disgusting candies. Who can eat those sick sugary beans of congealed corn syrup and artificial coloring without wanting to puke? Yuck.

According to dictionary.com:

Nerd

a stupid, irritating, ineffectual, or unattractive person.

an intelligent but single-minded person obsessed with a nonsocial hobby or pursuit: a computer nerd.
