I was wondering what math I should take... My major is biochem&cell biology.
I heard that math 20 series are harder is it like what we take while in high school for AP Cal(AB)
For those who took the class can you give a little bit of feedback
Thanks!!!!

I think Math 20 is for science and engineering students especially, meaning that it is probably more in-depth and pertinent to what you need to know for engineering (correct me if I'm wrong, but that's what I assumed from the email).

that's what i got out of it, too. i would go with the 20 if i were you.

the economics professor at the admit day said that if you wanna have a lota options for econ, take the math 20 series, cus its harder, but youll have more options since the math 10 classes dont satisfy the prerequisites for as many classes as the math 20 series.

10 is the life science/non-science/social science track. 20 series is engineering and physical science track. I took 20 series (c in fall, d and f in winter, i'm in e now)...my roommate took 10 series.

20 gives you the flexibility to move into other science fields - so if you wanted to change to chemistry, taking 20 would mean not having to repeat the class. That said, if you're certain you'll stick with bio/cell bio, its not really needed.

math 20 is for people who got A's in math while in high school -- if you like math, take 20 -- if you struggle with math and hate it, take 10 -- some majors have no choice but to take 20 (science and engineering ones) so it does not mean that all math 20 classes are filled with mathematical geniuses and people who major in math -- just with kids who want to take a bit harder instead of easier math

and i agree with above two posters in that math 20 opens more possible majors for you

i got a 5 in ap calc and always had A's in math in HS shcool -- got two A's and a B in my math 20 classes

So which one do you recommend?

coincidence, but i got an email from ucsd about th math placement crap today, n they had a link about transferrin college credits, n i found out that if u took calculus 150A or 150B from cal state fulerton (thats wat im takin at scool) it transfers into math 20 A and 20B, wich is real cool cus its prbly easier now than it wud be at sd.

i have a question..i took a calculus course through my CSUF but it was administered at my school...does that mean, since its a college course, it will affect my high school gpa? or do i just get credits for the completion of the course?
