What is the Expected Merit Aid for These Numbers?

@hailtopitt1787‌ Do you have to have been offered a scholarship from the other school or can you simply compare net cost. So if I were to compre my in-state school cost to pitt, including the scholarship offered by Pitt, would that be a scenario the committee might consider?

@Sapphire50‌, yes. You must have scholarship offers from another school.

Ok thank you.

@hailtopitt1787‌
Just as an example, if you were offered a full ride to Penn State and no scholarship from Pitt, would this be worth going through the Cost Analysis? In this case, would it be likely that Pitt would give a scholarship offer after seeing Penn State’s offer?

@Chelsey123‌, it may be an option. If you find yourself in that situation, you can DM me and we can talk it through further. But keep in mind that Pitt is still reviewing applications for Scholarships and will be notifying students they select for scholarships through March 1st!

@hailtopitt1787‌
I don’t think I qualify for Pitt’s scholarships because I thought the cut off was a minimum SAT score of 1450.

@Chelsey123‌, Well, if you don’t hear anything by March 1st you can DM me and I will work with some of my colleagues and help you determine if you are eligible to apply for CA. Best of luck!

@hailtopitt1787‌
Okay thanks! Is there an approximation of about how much scholarship Pitt may offer seeing a full ride from Penn State? I know that you can’t give an exact number but just a ballpark figure of how much they may consider if this were the case. Would Pitt still consider giving me a scholarship in this Cost Analysis even though I don’t meet the 1450 SAT requirement for Pitt scholarships?

@Chelsey123, I apologize, but I can’t really give you any kind of approximation. (Since I am not involved in the scholarships or cost analysis process, I would probably just give you the wrong numbers!)

I know the Cost Analysis committee is typically looking for requests from students who are scholarship eligible at Pitt or do come very close to being scholarship eligible.

Hope that information helps. Best of luck!

Can someone predict scholarship money if I qualify at all? I am out of state (Long Island) and have a 32 ACT (35 Eng, 34 Reading, 30 Science, 29 Math). My school does not rank. I have a 3.6 weighted gpa with hard classes and applied to the school of arts and sciences under communications.

meaghass, not too sure. the good news is you will have an answer by March 1st. You are on the border where some kids get a scholarship and some don’t. maybe 10K if you get one since you are OSS.
