What is the max credit for AP's?

Is it usually 30 (1 yr)?

Depends on where you want to go. Harvard, for example, only takes AP credit for 4 exams, while some other place might take all of the exams

Columbia will only allow one semester's worth: 16 credits

But most other non-ivy caliber schools will give you credit for most if not all of your exams...especially state schools.

Varies greatly from school to school.....

most public state schools will give credit for EVERY 3 or better, as long as they offer a similar class.

what about UC's (LA & Berkeley, if it matters)?

UC's don't have any limit to AP credit. They generally give 8 quarter units of credit for year-long APs and 4 quarter units for semester APs, which converts to 5.3 and 2.7 semester units for Berkeley.

it really depends on the school. Cal Poly gave my friend like a ton of units for getting a 5 on AP Calc BC .. I think he said 54, but i have no idea if i heard correctly.

You heard incorrectly. Cal Poly SLO gives 9 units for each AP exam.

ah, i guess it was for 6 AP exams then

yes CalPoly gives 9 credits - but much of these are for extra "electives". If you are an engineering major you dont really need all those extra elective credits so they are sort of wasted.

For example, my S took 4 AP exams and earned 36 credits. Only 3 of the exams actually applied towards actual courses that he needed for a computer engineering major so it is really like he got 12 credits for 3 satisfied courses.
