What is the MAX for transfer credit?

I found the following italic text on the GW website. My question is though do they take up to 30 credit hours from another institution AND up to 24 AP/CLEP credits? Does anyone have any experience with this?

Also, if you read in bold, it seems that if you've taken a course and then take a CLEP on that same course subject matter, it won't count? Well, what if I have 58 credit hours from another institution but because only up to 30 will transfer I decide to take CLEP courses so those WILL transfer? Will they not now because I've already taken a course? That's kind of messed up. This policy really makes me think that GW is after my money. Plus, most other colleges accept up to 60 credits for transfer. Any answers or comments on this?

"Transfer students may earn up to 24 semester hours through the College Board Advanced Placement (AP) test, by scoring 6 or 7 on selected International Baccalaureate higher level exams, or by scoring above 50 on the subject examinations of the College Board College-Level Examination Program (CLEP). **Official score reports must be sent from the testing agency. Be aware that credit earned by examination at other colleges or universities or examinations taken after having taken the appropriate college-level course will not transfer credit to GW. *

After matriculation at the University, up to 30 credit hours of course work completed at institutions other than GW (during GW-approved academic-year study abroad experiences) can be transferred. No more than 9 credit hours in total can be transferred from summer or academic-year programs at other colleges or universities. No academic-year or summer transfer credit from two-year institutions is allowed after a student has earned 60 credits towards a degree."*

You're reading the wrong line about the second paragraph...The paragraph is saying that when enrolled you can only take thirty credit hours outside of the university during study abroads. I have 30 credit hours coming from classes taken at a university while in high school. I'm not sure what the rule is about transferring those credits in, but I know that the paragraph above is not talking about incoming students. (I'm not sure if that makes sense lol)

Ahhhhhhhhhhh - Yeah, I'm at work while reading this stuff and my brain is kinda fried. Oops. Well, now I still wonder what the max is.....

Well, the residency is 45 credits. So no more than 75, basically.
