What is the thing you like the most and least about UT?

I'm trying to decide between a few colleges, and I was wondering what people liked and disliked the most about UT. I want to get a feel for whether UT is the right school for me.

Its a big school. Lots of diff. people/personalities & majors to choose from

Top 10 business school, amazing professors, all the major integrated oil & gas/bulge bracket banks recruit here for front office positions. What I like least is that the Asians are taking over the business school. Nah, I am just kidding. I wish the class sizes were cut in half, especially for upper-level courses.

asians are taking over the world it seems like

true & true

Not enough racial integration. Asians bunch together with asians and talk in asian languages. Whites with whites. Blacks with blacks. Etc. Yes you have more in common with similar ethnicities but I rarely see much integration. Part of that is probably due to the “Race-specific” clubs such as Black student association, asian business students association, women in computer science, etc (even though they allow anyone to join, the club is dominated by the majority)

Its not a big deal, but its often overlooked. This is my perspective from on-campus. Don’t know much about off campus.

The size of the school is a double edged sword to me. I love the options it offers and you’re bound to meet people with similar interests. But, the class size sucks. For some classes, it’s not a big deal. But, for classes I’m really interested in, I wish they’d be smaller so a real conversation could happen in class. Overall, it’s a great school.

Would any of you know what the average class sizes are for the business-related classes? What about engineering-related classes?

Average is about 30 for business, except maybe BA 101 but generally most classes about 30 give or take a few. & I just asked my roommates who are engineering …got the same response…around 30. there are few exceptions though.

what i like the most: everything is close by.

what i like the least: too many people.

class size (engineering): it depends on your major but for freshmen ece classes it goes from the 80-200 range. by the end of the semester it’ll be half of that. the non-freshmen courses have around 30 from what i’ve seen :]
