When filling out the commonapp, one choice for a major is commerce (business)

What does selecting the undergraduate major of commerce (business) mean exactly? I understand that the business school is not direct-admit, that you must apply after your sophomore year. So, does selecting this major put you on track for the business school, or is it completely unrelated?

It just means you might be interested in moving to the Commerce school later on. No one in the College of Arts and Sciences has a major walking in the door, so none of this is set in stone. We don’t expect you to know exactly what you want to do at this point.
