Did people who received an invitation to the CAS reception also receive a Sunday in the Square invite, or is it reserved for people who didn't get the Sunday but are still admitted to NYU? Thanks so much :)

I live in Connecticut, about 2.5 hours away from New York.

I live in GA... I hope I get one, but stuff seems to take forever to get here.

i got the CAS reception invite today (in PA) but not sunday in the square.. am i in?!

bseo, those dates are for 2005, I guess they haven't updated them yet. To answer someone else's question, I'm from NJ and got a CAS reception invite, but no Sunday at the Square thing. I don't think you can get both. But hopefully this is something to be excited about!

yeah i'm in pa and i got the CAS thing and not the sunday at the square one...but definitely the website calandar saying "for admitted students" is making me think this is still a good thing :)

Could you give me a link to that calendar? Thanks!

is university day only for CAS applicants?

I got an invite!!! You have no idea how spastic I was when I got it....

I just got one and I live in CA. It does seem like it must be good news.

I didn't get one...:(

I am guessing that is a bad sign.

Im done reading these posts and messing around. I need some real opinions/answers. What do these reception things mean? Can it be said that if we dont get one that we have been rejected?? What exactly are these things!? Cant you guys who have received stuff post your stats so that we can have a better idea of what we are looking at?

I believe those who got one have been accepted. If you didn't get one, well, then, I don't think you were rejected. I believe people got in last year without receiving invitations to anything. So, no, not getting one wouldn't mean that you were rejected.
My stats:
SAT I:1420/2100
SAT II: Lit-710, US History-680, Math IIC-640
About a 3.7 gpa
Top 4% of my class
good recommendations, okay ECs, okay essays

I just got one today.

1480 SAT
800, 760, 760, 740 SAT IIs
3.4 GPA
top 12%

I'm not a huge fan of emoticons, but this calls for them...
:D :D :D :D :D :D

exactly what bandnerd said. if you got one, yes, you are in, but they are only for the top applicants. if you didnt get one, you can still get in, youre just not a priority candidate, and you have to wait to find out until around april 1st.

scrapnel, are you sure?

I am looking at NYU's calender and it says: CAS Admitted Student Day...it gives the impression that it is specifically only for admitted people.

here's the link to the calender http://events.nyu.edu/index.cgi?cmd=listday&y=2006&m=4&d=7&cat=&sib=1&sort=e,m,t&ws=1&cf=list&set=1&swe=1&sa=1&de=1&tf=0&sb=0&stz=Default&cal=cal12

it doesn't seem logical to mail these to everyone who applied, but the problem with the calendar-logic is that there is no "admitted student day" logged under april 15th which, i think, is the alternate date for the people who got this letter.

Did any1 call to find out? I got one too.

Got one today. Does anyone know if the reception invite has any correlation to merit scholarships? Or if this is just for all the admitted students?

From what rumors I've heard, this is for all admitted students who aren't borderline/whose invitations were lost in the mail.
