What is Tufts' reputation as a pre-med school?

How does it compare to the ivies, and how does it sit in comparison to well-known schools in general?

The pre-med requirements are all lower level science classes which can be provided by any 4 years schools and they will be looked at by med schools equally. What made Tufts (or any other top level schools) different is what they can offer in addition to the pre-med requirements, some are tangible such as their reputation in academic or industrial world, some are intangible, such as the relationships you can build up with classmates that have connections for your future success.

What exactly are you asking? Are you asking if the Tufts name on your diploma is going to get sort of special consideration in med school admissions?

That’s easy: no. (Except maybe at Tufts’ own med school.) But then the reputation of your undergrad only has a very small influence in gaining a med school admission.

Tufts does not have the same national luster/reputation/prestige/name recognition as Ivies, Stanford, Northwestern, Duke, JHU, UNC or UWash for pre-med.

Tufts’s reputation is largely regional and East Coast. It’s not a unknown/unheard of school elsewhere, but neither is it a name that makes adcomms sit up & pay attention.
