ok, so i asked a question on some other website asking whether guys would date a nice girl who was gorgeous, but she didn't shave her legs and they were very hairy.
and all of them either said 'no' or that they would date her and make her shave her legs.

i don't understand. i really really don't understand. why are they so threatened by girls with body hair?

i mean they would pass up an opportuinity to date a beautiful model because she had hairy legs.

so i asked another question, would you rather date the beautiful girl with hairy legs or an average girl with an average personality who shaved her legs. ok only 2 people answered that question, but 1 guy said he'd pick the hairy girl and the other said he'd go out with the average girl.

so can you explain this to me if you are a guy?

and are hairy arms as repulsive? what about underarm hair? what about if they have a lot of facial hair.

a) I'd think I might go with the avg. girl, unless the beautiful girl really captivated me ( and she would have a hard time doing that with hairy legs)
b)hairy arms are pretty bad. Depends how hairy, but if it's enough that you can actually make it out, or comparable to teen kid, then it´s bad.
c) underarm hair...thats the WORST!. I would NEVER consider dating someone with underarm hair.
d) Facial hair...a little is pretty much normal ( but I mean a little, like, in not really noticeable unless you look at it against the sun or something). But if it's like a nasty moustache, then it has got to go.

Oh. And it's not that we're intimidated, it jsut looks nasty on a girl ( and some guys should definitely look into grooming and trimming lol). It's sort of a contrast, when you see a girl's really beautiful skin jsut screwed up by the amount of hair she has...it's pretty sad lol

It's all cultural conditioning. Guys, you've just been brainwashed by the media to think that hairy legs on girls is gross. It's actually quite common in other parts of the world for girls to NOT shave their legs or underarms. Some girls quit shaving for the same reason women in the 1920's quit wearing corsets - they became liberated and no longer needed to conform their bodies to please men.

I know European women who don't shave. And, It's not uncommon to see fuzzy legs & underarms on girls in Austin, for example. I admire them for their courage in being beautiful and natural. Oh, and it's quite common to see them smooching with their very good-looking boyfriends, who obviously find them attractive.

(from an ex-hippie Earth mother mom who does not usually post in the student forum but was checking another thread and happened upon this one. Alas, my son feels the same as you do, though, but let's see if he changes his mind now that he's in Austin...)

i think that part of it is that girls who shave their legs are perceived to take care of themselves and practice good hygiene. you wouldn't want to date a guy who extremely good-looking who didn't use deordorant and never got haircuts or washed his hair.

what I find interesting is the fact that guys wouldn't even consider dating a girl until they've seen her undressed.
which rules out all the good-looking girls who wear jeans to classes...

...no, we would dump girls who have body hair. At least all of mens' ugliness can be seen from outside...if they have a huge nose, if they are short and what not

if the thought of dating a hairy girl ever crossed my mind, all I have to do is think of our maids butt hair that I found on our toilet seat the last time she was here, then I'd know that it would never happen.

this girl i go to school with didn't shave her legs for like three months and it was absolutely disgusting esp when she wore skirts. she actually is a really really pretty girl, though .. but she had a boyfriend at the time and he actually didn't mind.. haha her mom caught her smoking pot though and part of her punishment was to shave her legs.

I think as long as she doesn't have a mustache, any other body hair is fine.

Now Thats strange Nick so you would be fine with underarm hair or any other kind of hair i didn't mentions
Also anyone know how to quote a message? im new here

I suppose its because body hair for a girl in our society is related to bad hygiene. I know it shouldn't be, but it is almost expected of girls to shave their body hair, and if they don't it seen as gross or messy.

I personally would prefer if a girl would shave her legs. I mean if a person won't spend a little extra time to make herself look more attractive, then it seems like she isn't trying hard enough to me. I guess its kind of like how people dress. If you spend that extra time to dress well (sometimes money, =[ ) , then you deserve that extra attention. But if you dress in whatever is comfortable, it may be convenient, but it looks bad. It is all your choice and if you don't do it then that is great for you, but it doesn't appeal to other people.

see i thought that guys are supposed to be superficial. because they wouldn't want the hairy girl even though she's beautiful in every other way. but then, maybe they aren't superficial because they would choose the average girl? is their aversion to body hair that strong?

i can understand why they would associate body hair with being unclean, but if the person seemed clean in every other way then that's no excuse.

maybe the guys who dislike hairy girls the most are guys who have very little body hair, so if the girl has body hair then it makes them feel like the girl is a more of a man then they are.

who is the one who started the idea that women need to shave, anyway? i mean before razors were invented people were still reproducing and being attracted to eachother. its not like helen of troy had a lady gillette.

does the type of hair make a difference? what if it is a large quantity but very fine and not that dark? is that acceptable?
