The most important quality is having a valid reason for wanting to get an MBA and communicating it perfectly in your applicantion essays and interviews.

Another very important quality is leadership. Most MBA programs today want to make sure a candidate has leadership skills based on a proven track record of professional and extra-curricular success, proven adherence to ethics and fair play and physical presence in interviews etc...

Well planned and successful professional experience. This goes beyond leadership. MBAs want reliable employees who will play well in teams, finish the job well, on time and without resorting to desperate measures and who have shown a track record of professional success through frequent promotions.

Obviously a solid academic background and a good GMAT score are a must too. To have a realistic shot at any top MBA program, a 3.2-3.6 GPA and a 660-740 GMAT score is expected. Obviously, some students manage to get into top MBA programs with sub 3.2 GPAs and sub 660 GMA scores, but those are the exceptions rather than the rule. And it goes without saying that candidates with 3.7+ GPAs with 750+ on the GMAT have an advantage. But unless the rest of the stuff above checks out, no matter how good one's grades and scores are, the odds will be diminished.

Finally, MBAs want well rounded individual. People who have a good global outlook, who speak a foreign language, have a passion for a non-academic and non-professional hobby etc...

That was pretty helpful for me.., thanks a lot Alexandre ..,
Well i want to get into MBA coz i think i like taking in responsibility..., it gives me a high.. I love interacting with people and i like getting things done.., Like.., i like taking in projects..., and then completing them in the best possible way.., coz i like getting appreciation for the work i do.,and i do spend a lot of time on thinking about the ppl around me.., what all is good in them... and where all they can be a part of my project..,NOW is that a valid reason for me to apply for MBA.., or should i be thinking of another profession..,
