What kind of calculator do we need?

What is the math department's policy on calculators? Does anybody know? What are you guys bringing? I've got a TI-89, and I don't really want to shell out $80 for a crappy TI-83...

cavalier302, I know many classes won't let you use a TI-89 because it will do integration for you. In many classes you don't get to use a calc on the test anyway so it doesn't matter...you would probably be safest with a TI-83/84

I bought a TI-84+ Silver edition for my Chem 141 class. I'm not taking any math this sem though because I placed out of Calc I & II.

in calc 1 and 2 you can't use a calculator at all. I'm not sure what the policy is in other math courses. A TI-89 shouldn't be a problem in most courses. Don't worry until you hear otherwise from the prof

I guess I'll just have to see when I get there. Refardless, I've never been very calculator-dependant, so there probably won't be much of an adjustment.

i m taking plane trigonometry, and in the classes schedule book, it says that the TI-85/86 will be used, but i have a question that could i use the TI-84 plus silver for my class and what is the different between TI-86 and TI-84 plus silver ?
