I would just like a rough estimate of where I have a fair chance with the admissions process. I know my GPA brings me down. It is a 3.4 UW and a 4.1 W.

sat: M-720 CR-690 W-660 (M+CR=1410)
SAT2: Math II -770

Do you have any preference for location? Is tuition a problem at all?

Also, it looks like you can retake the SAT and do better (if you want to); if you can get a 770 on the math SAT II, you can certainly get higher than that on the math section of the SAT I.

What can your family afford? You have a shot at UMCP. Your grades are low but your scores are on the high side.

Try to find schools that look at weighted GPA…you should be in good shape. (You would get a full tuition scholarship at University of Alabama.)

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/financial-aid-scholarships/1348012-automatic-full-tuition-full-ride-scholarships-19.html#post16145676 indicates that you could get some big scholarships at some schools (e.g. full ride at Louisiana Tech).

You’d have a decent shot at some very good schools. Tech schools like RPI, WPI, and maybe GT would love you. Northeastern would too and you’d be in line for big scholarships at some of the big southern schools.

Check what tool your high school is using for transcript submission and get the transcript plus your test scores loaded into the tool. Ours uses parchment and once it has the data it will give your chances at wherever you are interested. This has helped us considerably as we have a better idea what is a reach and what is a safety or match.

You’re very similar to my son with disparate test scores and gpa so a tool like parchment is particularly helpful.

Tuition isn’t a problem and i do not have a preference for location. I am taking the SAT again in October and am bought the blue book. Thanks for the information on the full tuition schools!

If I’m not wrong, I’d say you have a very very very good shot at George Mason University (that’s where I am). My GPA was higher than yours but my SAT was only around 1750, but i know plenty of people with your GPA who got in. It’s a good up-and-coming school :)

Do you know what you want to major in? Are you looking for big schools? small schools? public? private? LACs? you need to give us some information to work with…
