i got two of my teachers 15 dollar pen sets

My mom is getting all my senior teachers Staples gift cards. I think I'm going to get a little personal gift for each teacher that wrote me a rec though. Nothing expensive, but personal. Like a mug for the History prof who broke 2 mugs in the span of a week, a science-y pin for the Bio teacher who wears pins, etc.

alright, one more question...not meaning to be rude or anything, but what is an appropriate dollar amount when purchasing gift cards for teachers?

i would say 10-15 dollars.

although, personally, i think giftcards ARE NOT personal. I think it's much nicer to bake them something and write a thank you card.

honestly, i think most teachers would like it much more if they know how grateful you are rather then giving them money.

a card and w/e yor teacher likes is appropriate.

I asked my teachers what they wanted. + card

I baked my teachers blueberry muffins and gave them a thank you card. =)

fellow: yep, I've hugged teachers. They hug back :)
sammie: I like the idea of the blueberry muffins!

I already gave a thank you card to my teacher, but nothing for my counselor yet. I have about 5 more recs I'd like her to write. I'll probably bake her something at the end of the year.

I made them thank you cards and gave them gifts from China (pillow cushions, table runners, fans)...haha.

would it be weird to give something handmade? As in like handmade paper rose or handmade cards?

Is it appropriate to give them cards and gifts in April/May, once all the decisions have been released and I know where I'm going?

That's what I plan on doing, because I wanted to say something like "I'm planning on going to this with a scholarship for X dollars, and I also got into these other schools. I'm so glad you took the time to help me do it," in the thank-you notes. I'm just hoping that they weren't expecting/hoping for something sooner...

^me too. i have several more recs I need for scholarships, and I haven't given anything to my GC yet. I'm sorta reluctant to ask her because I didn't do anything for her last time, but I don't want to seem over-the-top by giving her tons of stuff.

Our school counselors tell the kids that they should give a thank you gift to the teachers who write their recs and suggest that they do it just after the rec is written - late fall.
We gave gift certificates.
Then when the acceptances came in my d made sure to stop by their classrooms and let them know and thank them again.
