What kind of grades do you need to maintain provisional acceptances?

I applied to CSUs and UCs and have gotten some acceptance letters so far, I got a 4.00 1st semester of senior year but second semester I’ve been slacking so can you guys tell me what gpa/grades I’ll need to keep my provisional acceptances? Mainly for
SFSU, SJSU, SDSU, UCR and UCM, will getting Cs in all my classes for 2nd be fine?

Read your acceptance letter for conditions. It is really disheartening to see people willing to risk admission rescinded. I’m sure if you told them ahead that you would be targeting all Cs they would like to hand the offer to someone else.

For the Cal States, you need to maintain your current GPA (some leeway) and no grades lower than a C in the a-g courses. SDSU maybe a stickler if your GPA drops from a 4.0 to a 2.0?

For the UC’s, 3.0 weighted GPA with no D’s or F’s. For UCB/UCLA, 3.0 unweighted GPA and no D’s or F’s.

All C’s may be a problem to maintain that 3.0 weighted GPA. I would be very worried right now and you should contact your GC immediately.

Well I’m most likely gonna be going to SJSU or SFSU is gpa going to matter alot with them too? Since they accept people with lower gpas then mine as well

Here’s a good rule of thumb: no Ds, Fs, Frauds (in your application) or Felonies. Otherwise, you’re golden. Remember: you’re the source of 4+ years of tuition to the school. It’s in their interest not to play hardball in most cases. They have fought HARD to get you to enroll and will do what they can to maintain that. Don’t forget that either.

Bump

ummm… what was unclear in posts #4 and #2? Since you’re apt not to believe, why don’t you take your 4.0 self and go ask your GC?

I know you guys might be annoyed but I read in my SJSU provisional that I need a “C-” or above in all my remaining college prepatory classes to maintain admission, so I was assuming th at means 2.0?

Try that and let us know how it works for you.

I can’t believe a 4.0 would even want to risk something like that. Personally, if I was an adcom and saw a straight A student go to straight C’s, I wouldn’t be too pleased. Keep it at B’s please unless the classes are truly demanding.
