now that its 100 percent clear I am goinf to college, I need to buy a laptop that would suit for chem. E.
I looked up the chem.e department website and they recommend at least i5 processor core, but right now my budget isnt enough for it:-( and I really cant trust reburbished ones.

Anyone doing chem.engineering, is pentium or intel 2 enough for chem.E major? Any suggestions are welcome…by the way, I use PC.

What’s your budget? You can probably do fine with a Core i3. They can be bought for about $400 at Microcenter or Newegg.

Check around for coupons/sales. Since 2014 is almost over, you might be able to get a good deal on a 2014 model and stores try to get rid of them in favor of the 2015s.

@NoVADad99 mine is like 200~350 at most :-(

The Microsoft Store has a good 15.6 inch laptop with an i5 processor, DVD burner, etc for $350 instead of $599. You live in Oregon, so there would be no sales tax.

AMD processors are comparable to Intel ones.

This HP at Microcenter has i3 processor and costs $359.

Check out Microcenter, Newegg, and Frys websites for deals. Also, this time of year, as you get closer to Christmas, you could get good last minute deals on computers. Look for the BestBuy or other electronic store ads.

You don’t really need a laptop for ChemE. All software and programs you will use in your courses are available on engineering lab computers.

I got acer aspire i5 for 349 vucks!
