What kind of universities can I get in with these stats?

Hi,

I just completed the 11th grade and, of course, am looking at this point towards college. I'm in California, which means I have interest in many UCs, but I also am considering Ivy Leagues and other out-of-state universities--most notably Syracuse University, Columbia University, and Northwestern University--since I want to pursue a career in English/journalism. Please chance me!

Grades as of end of junior year (note: x/y means grade in fall semester/grade in spring semester):

Freshman year - 4.0 GPA

Sophomore year - classes taken: Media Production (A-/A-), Spanish 2 (A-/A-), Algebra 2 (A/A+), English II Honors (A-/A-), World History (A/A), AP Physics B (B-/B; 3 earned on AP Exam), P.E. (A/A+); overall GPA in sophomore year: 4.0 (weighted), 3.83 (unweighted)

Junior year - classes taken: AP US History (B-/B+; projecting 4 on AP Exam), Spanish 3 (A-/A-), English III Honors (B/A-), Journalism (A+/A+), Trig/Pre-Calc (A-/B+), Chemistry (A-/A-); overall GPA in junior year: 4.0 (weighed with AP class and English III Honors), 3.83 (weighted with AP class), 3.71 (unweighted)

Senior year - classes I will be taking and projected grades for first semester: AP Government (B), AP Spanish (A), AP English (A), Journalism (A+), Photo 1 (A).

Other scores:
-A in Statistics class taken over summer before senior year @ nearby community college
-SAT Score: 2200 (730 CR, 710 Math, 760 Writing)
-SAT IIs: 720 in US History, projected 700+ in Literature, projected 700+ in Math II

Other qualifications/awards/etc.:
-Won Sugihara Fellowship Award for ADL in 11th grade by being selected for writing an essay and winnings 2nd place; chosen from over 100 students around the nation who went on an ADL-sponsored National Youth Leadership Mission to Washington DC; for more information, see Sugihara Fellowship Program
-Worked as a tutor at my school's Homework Center through all of junior year (twice a week), got paid about $500 over the year, plan to continue working at HW Center in senior year
-Involved in Speech & Debate all 4 years of high school, but haven't occupied any leadership positions; earned Championship trophy at a major invitational in Freshman year

Please chance me based on my stats! Also, please advise me if there are any "holes" that I should fill--i.e. get a job, do volunteering, etc. that would boost my chances.

Thanks!

By the way…my class rank is 18/388, which means I’m in the the top 5% of my class as of the end of junior year. I’m an Indian male :-)

I’d say you’d get into most upper average schools like UCLA, Case, Emory, etc.

But with just a 2200 SAT for the entire ivy league and schools like MIT, CalTech, UC Berkley, and even Northwestern, you’ll need some stronger ECs like a research publication after a summer of research in a lab or an internship in a hospital or something like that to balance it. Or you can try for a higher score or try the ACT.

You should definitely get at least one 800 on a SAT II for the ivy league.

No offense, but you could be a bit more well rounded, esp. for the ivy league. That is, you should preferably have some varsity sport.

You must have leadership positions. If you really can’t get one, just make your own club - it could be anything.

Also, be interesting - ex. try something different like theatre and act in a few plays.
