Now that we have all SIR'd, I'd like to learn a little more about what led us to our decisions.

We all make choices based on parameters that are specific to out own individual situations, preferences, and beliefs.

What led you to choose one school over another? Academics? Prestige? Personal Relationships? Location? Dream school? Only had one offer? Time to move-out? Etc.

I chose UCLA because of its top ranked psychology program, the best among all of the UC’s, even Berkeley. I like UCLA’s location in westwood as opposed to the grungy feel of UC Berkeley. For me, it was time to move out and experience something new in my life as I will be turning 24 next month.

^before i read who typed that reply i was gonna come with somethin back, but you always mean well so its all good.

BUTTTT! whattt! whats with the hate on berk bro! geez! berkeley is pretty nice but ehh i guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder. i love that bay life.

but i am choosing irvine because of its proximity from la x diego. but possibly might go with davis because of cheaper housing as im dragging my girlfriend along with me (she was there before the money and im keepin her around, screw the cliche college stereotypes)

well I got spring admit to Berk. I thought about it but I SIR’ed to UCLA instead.

I chose Berkeley because UCI waitlisted me T_T

@kme

whoa big difference. stats?

I chose Berkeley and it was really hard to turn down UCLA… However, after I visited Cal, I SIR’d one the way back to LA from San Francisco. I really loved the campus and I felt so comfortable. I’m a spring admit to Cal and I do not think that will make much difference in my life haha (maybe I’m wrong!) :)

Lol I feel like I end up talking about this in all my posts. Pretty good stats but I have 92 transferable semester units so I couldn’t be accepted at UCM, UCSD, UCSB, UCLA, & UCSC and I had low priority at UCI and was unable to TAG since I’m a senior transfer with credits from a 4yr.

UCLA= Dream School.

I could have picked Berkeley but in the end, i have always wanted to be a Bruin

Thus far, I have chosen UCSD. Their bioengineering program is the standard for schools across the country and can provide me the best education in that field. I’m scared to move 10 hours away from my home, but I feel it might be time for an adventure.

I still haven’t heard back from appeal at UC Davis, but if I get accepted and choose to go there it will be for different reasons entirely. It will be to stay close to home, be with a large group of people I know, and avoid a long-distance relationship. Plus, I really like the ARC and the quaint town of Davis.

UCLA has always been my dream school, I SIR’d right after I received my acceptance. Although I did question my decision a bit when I unexpectedly got into Berkeley because I was missing many pre-reqs.
But in the end, I do feel like I made the best choice and cannot wait to be a Bruin this fall.

I chose UCLA because it’s amazing in every aspect to me. The environment surrounding the campus, the campus itself, the academics, the proximity to home (3 hrs versus 5 hours at Cal), a full ride, etc. etc. I was considering Cal Poly SLO at one time to be really close to home and both Cal Poly SLO and UCI to be with my boyfriend. I’m more than elated to become a bruin this fall. Congrats to you all!

Also, Skeptiq, I felt a little like you did haha. I SIR’d on 4/29 (I waited until after I heard back from Cal, I think). Cal was my dream school for a long time but UCLA has been my dream school for the past year. Funny how that changes :P

UCLA because Im an Asian.

UC Lotsa Asians = UCLA
UC Beijing = Berkeley
UC Immigrants = Irvine

Berkeley for their top tier EE program. Otherwise it would’ve been Davis. I pulled the trigger a bit early with Davis on last friday since I was denied from my dream school USC so I thought I had no other choice. Thank goodness for appeals. Berkeley accepts me and I’m out 100 bucks, haha.

Berkeley, because it just has EVERYTHING. Close to home aka close to my boyfriend, amazing academics, football, great social scene, eccentric city, beautiful campus, and a really awesome, interesting student body…and so forth. I am so ****ing lucky to have this opportunity and I just can’t wait until this next chapter in my life finally starts.

@redoplese: just curious, were you going to choose Berkeley even if you were a spring admit? haha

UCLA

It’s everything I wanted in a school. Top tier academics, a GREAT sport scene, a good social aspect. I’m so glad I got in this year… go BRUINS!

NO. I was not. I just couldn’t bear the thought of waiting until 2012 for all of the aforementioned wonderfulness. Like it would literally be painful watching everyone else sign up for orientation, get their email address, and just be ****ing Berkeley students while I delay my education for another 5 or so months. I would have taken UCLA…as dumb/weird as that sounds

Whatevs, it all worked out in the end for me :D
